Like an ode to trees — to their smooth or rough trunks, silent witnesses to the seasons — the NOMU – Bois collection embodies the quiet strength of what endures. Inspired by the natural impetus of life, it brings together reversible kimonos, fluid hakamas, pleated skirts, and jacquard tweed ponchos, all handcrafted in our Grenoble workshop.
Each piece is woven in France by Master Artisans of Living Heritage, in high-density brocade-style jacquards — organic cotton, FSC viscose, recycled polyester — certified Bio & Oeko-Tex 100. French seams without overlocking, generous side pockets, hand-finished details: here, nothing is left to chance.
From formal ceremonies to sophisticated everyday wear, NOMU – Bois dresses every moment with the same exacting standards: a bridge between sky and earth, between Japanese-inspired tradition and French elegance.

Who are we? Catherine Valentin is a French fashion brand specializing in kimonos, hakamas, and Japanese-inspired silhouette pieces, handcrafted in Grenoble. All our textiles are woven in France by weavers labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company), in high-density brocade-style jacquard, certified Organic and Oeko-Tex 100.
What does the NOMU – Bois collection include? 8 pieces: reversible kimonos (SUKI, NODO, KOYO, ENDO, KASUMI), hakama pants (MATCHA, BANIRA), MATCHA pleated short skirt, and KEIKO tweed jacquard wool poncho. Japanese-inspired floral patterns, gold/white brocade polka dots, filigree tone-on-tone. Colors: jade green, vanilla, ecru, white/gold, brown/plum, straw yellow.
Materials & commitments: organic cotton, FSC viscose, FSC acetate, recycled polyester, tweed wool. French seams without overlocking. Available from size 34 to 46 (French), custom-made possible. Made in France, Label Artisan d’Art de France.

Pour le moment j’ai juste essayé le pantalon avec le kimono en vue de le porter lors d’une cérémonie de mariage cet été. Les deux pièces me vont parfaitement bien. Elles sont superbes: Qualité du tissu de la façon et du style. Merci encore.
